Fulbright Visiting Scholars at FIU

A program of the fulbright.jpgU.S. Department of State, the  Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program  funds one- to two-semester long exchanges for international faculty to teach, research and otherwise offer their expertise at host institutions, such as FIU, across the globe. The following are FIU's Fulbright Visiting Scholars since 2019:

    From: Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, Mexico
    Hosted by: FIU Department of Biology, Dr. Alain Duran
    Project summary: 
    Comparative analysis of the composition and ecological role of long sediment-laden algal turfs (LSAT) from coral reefs in Yucatán and Florida. We will develop a comparative study establishing common research protocols that will allow us to continue our collaboration in a mid to long term.

    From: Open Institute of Technology, Malta; citizen of Poland
    Hosted by:  Bryan Cooper, Associate Dean, FIU Libraries
    Project summary: 
    Tomasz’s background includes gaming and extended realities (including AR, VR and MR) and his office will be at the i360 facility in the Glenn Hubert Library at BBC. Stakeholders who will be working with him include: Local WPBT Public Television, the Everglades Foundation, the South Florida Composer Alliance, and the North Miami Chamber of Commerce. His year at FIU also directly supports CARTA’s Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media, the School of Music, the Ratcliffe Art+Design Incubator, and CASE’s STEM Transformation Institute and Education Outreach Programs.
