Jolynn Shoemaker
Bio
Jolynn Shoemaker is the Director of Global Engagements in Global Affairs at University of California, Davis (UC Davis). In this role, she is leading efforts to integrate the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into internationalization efforts and to engage members of the campus community in the global goals. She co-edited the book, Global Goals, Global Education: Advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (NAFSA, 2024). She has supported numerous international initiatives for Global Affairs, including global strategic planning processes, regional engagement and international agreements.
In addition to teaching undergraduate students about the SDGs at UC Davis, Shoemaker has also taught national security as an adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science at California State University, Sacramento and conducted numerous trainings for professionals in foreign policy and national security fields on Women, Peace and Security and women’s leadership.
She has also served in the federal government. She served in both policy and attorney roles in the U.S. Department of Defense, Office of the Secretary of Defense and worked in the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. She holds a J.D. with a focus on international law, an M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University and a B.A. from UC San Diego.
