Eligible faculty have completed a COIL Design Workshop, have COILed at least twice, and commit to COILing at least once a year thereafter.
COIL Affiliated Faculty receive the following perks:
- A letter of appointment from our office and the Office of the Provost for your professional file
- A dedicated, custom profile on our web site’s COIL Affiliated Faculty page, highlighting your professional experience, COIL projects, and student and faculty success artifacts
- Your COIL Affiliated status in email signatures, CV, bios, P180, and more
- Regular updates from FIU COIL regarding additional international teaching, learning, research, grants, mobility, and other opportunities for you and your students
- More exposure of your work through FIU COIL social media and other communication channels
- Priority access to COIL matching proposals
- Access to funds for COIL-related activities
We are pleased to offer support to COIL Affiliated Faculty pursuing additional internationalization activities arising from their COIL projects and partnerships. Faculty awards are determined based on the project’s merits; its measurable impact on faculty, student, and institutional success; and availability of funding.
Proposed funding requests of up to $500 may include:
- Domestic or international travel
- International study abroad or academic program development
- Online conference registration
- Professional development that helps faculty to enhance their COIL experience
Faculty who receive an award agree to provide FIU COIL with evidence of the successful implementation of their activity (e.g., conference paper, study abroad or new program proposal) or, in the case of a professional development award, a plan for implementing a workshop for FIU faculty, within 30 days of the activity’s culmination in exchange for up to $500 in funding.
